02/14/12 New Zealand Trip
The water was so blue! Let them give glory to the LORD and declare His praise in the coastlands ... Isaiah 42:12
Suzanna and Richard at a scenic overlook of the bay
This lighthouse was built in the late 1800s after a shipwreck on the rocks killed more than 100 people.
Some areas of NZ reminded us of Canadian Rockies – mountains covered with evergreens, steep rock ledges, tundra. Some highways and rail lines tunnel through mountains of rock.
Unlike the Canadian Rockies, however, we also saw palm trees.
This forested road had many ferns as well as tree ferns.
There were many one-lane bridges. In fact most of the bridges on the roads are one-lane bridges.
Venison is a popular meat, and deer are raised domestically.
We saw multitudes of sheep grazing as well as many cattle. It reminded us of Psalm 79:13 So we Your people and the sheep of Your pasture will give thanks to You forever; to all generations we will tell of Your praise ....
We were a long way from home!
We praise the Lord for our safe and memorable trip to New Zealand!
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
(Psalms 8:9 NIV)
